Don’t be discourage. Building name ID and establishing yourself as a candidate for office is a difficult thing. It takes time and effort.
Sometimes the best way to get involved in politics is baptism by fire. Put your name out there. What better way to learn to run for office than to run for office. You know how many politicians in this country lose their first race or lose their first three races and keep going after it? That tenacity and that willingness to show that you’re dedicated to serve the public does not go unnoticed. People pay attention to that. The people that continue to get in the ring and continue to fight typically get rewarded.
Don’t be discouraged if this is something that you’re passionate about and you have a calling to serve your community. Continue to go after it. You don’t know what voter turnout is going to be. Elections, as we like to think, are very predictable or so unpredictable it’s not even funny. So, just continue to get after it and start small. For example, going after any elected position even if you’re an officer in an organization. All of that prepares you to eventually run for a public elected office.
